Lost & Found
Nine months you waited, how long did you know.
The child you carried you couldn't own.
The choice that you made was the right one they said.
As the minister and doctors stood by your bed.
No shame to her family this "fallen woman" will bring.
In a town far away during the passing of spring.
The moment came, you looked idoly on.
Now close your eyes the memories gone.
Who did I look like when I was pulled from your womb.
Were you close by me there in the hospital room.
Did you come to see me, my tiny hands, my face.
Did you clutch at the emptiness in my place.
Was there happiness among my creators, you and who?
Was there ever a chance between the two,
for a life that included he, me and you.
I hoped you would miss me and wonder forlorn.
Is my baby happy, did he get a good home.
Will his new family love him and cast him a part.
In a play with the climax right at the start.
I heard Happy Birthday for thirty bleak years.
Another day in the life of a baby boy, born in Battle Creek.
Did you blow a kiss to the wind and think of me then.
And wish along with me I'd find you again.
I have your hands, I mean, I think I do.
You played the piano, least I have read of you.
Blue eyes could have come from either of you.
Blonde wavy hair sounds like both of you too.
Do you have a new family, do they know about me.
The secret you locked up in a safe with no key.
In your heart deep inside where no one could see.
The pain that you're feeling, was feelings for me.
Bits and pieces is who I am, building castles out of sand.
Lost and found I could be ... If you would be a part of me.
