Adoption Poetry
Untitled
Birthdays were meant to be happy days
And for many lucky people they are
But when you're adopted and searching
You can only dream and wish on a star
Who can go through life not knowing
Only an adoptee can tell you that
Holding back fears and tears from showing
Searching desperately for just one fact
Where you come from is a forbidden issue
Crucial information ethnicity and health
She looks like her, he looks like him,
Traits passed on and treated as wealth
I have not this luxury in my lifetime you see
For I am forsaken, unloved and only an adoptee
