The Fight
They locked up my past
and threw away the key.
They surround my birth
with red tape and shame.
They spread fear
and misunderstanding,
to keep me away.
But I have found
the way around their walls.
The love of caring people
who know my anguish.
The kindness of
understanding strangers,
linked by a mutual struggle.
Through love, hard work,
and much soul searching
our goal can be attained.
We will take back our lives.
We will open their eyes.
We will soothe their fear
and scatter misunderstanding,
with love and truth.
We will open our arms
and welcome them to
share the joy
of truth, light,
and newfound pasts.
