Lost Innocence
childhood fading, present time blurring,
memories of joy now tinged with tears,
large crocodile tears quickly shed,
quickly dried, change to burning
embers stinging under closed eyes
Rivers flowing, flowing, flowing,
around a corner, end unseen,
carry my small bright reflection
toward an ocean, deep and clean
Strong currents deep under, move
my feet from place to place
Minutes, hours, slipping, sliding,
flee into impenetrable space
Limbs floating, grabbing, clawing,
try to keep a dying dream
Memories, shining diamonds, sand
slipping through an endless sieve,
leaving a small scar of
emptiness and confusion
behind to mark their
ceaseless, ceaseless,
ceaseless,
passing.
