The Heavens Above
The moon is my fluffy white pillow.
I swivel with the orbit of the
jewel of Terra,
her opalescence soothes my soul.
Mercury races on winged feet
around the sweltering Helios,
his endless message
sending him in eternal circles.
Venus winks her emerald green eye,
and smiles her all-knowing,
enigmatic smile,
mysterious as the Sphinx.
Mars throws his red,
lascivious eye in my direction,
lusting for war
and his next conquest.
The minor gods,
circling before him,
kneel in worship of the mighty Jupiter
and his all-seeing red spot.
Saturn gathers his robes around him,
turning endlessly, seeking
to devour his circling children.
Uranus watches with calm regal eye,
scorning the antics of his offspring.
Neptune gathers
his shimmering waters around him,
calming the seas
and smoothing the brows of his nymphs,
circling about him.
Pluto passes Neptune in his search for
more souls and shades
on the edge of the known world.
His loneliness makes him jealous and
he switches with his brother
to ease the emptiness of space.
The great sparkling heavens glows
with eternal starlight,
calming my fears and singing
the celestial song of peace and eternity.
