Sunbeam
A sunbeam
tiptoes across
the floor,
ever so slowly,
glittering with
flying dust fairies.
A lone marble with a
green ribbon inside
is caught
by the edge
of the light.
As the sun edges
over the horizon,
the marble glows brighter,
flashing a spot
of light on the ceiling.
As the sunbeam advances,
it outlines
the bars of a small
crib,
where the angelic face
of a child
recieves shadows
of bars across her eyes.
The child awakes as the
light reaches her eyes
and giggles with glee
at the whirling brightness
of the dust flecks,
a new sight for this
cheerful child.
Her mother peeks in
at her, wondering how
many children
have laughed at
sunbeams and
thought it had
never happened before.
