Let me gaze into your face.

through the silence of the night.

Give me a sidelong wink,
Smile your silly smile.
Surprise me with sudden affection.
On the way home, take a new direction.
Promise you'll be true.
I want to be dear to you.

You may not understand me.
Don't let that stop your love.
I'm prone to sudden introspection.
I gaze at the stars up above.
My heart is anchored firmly here and now,
and I think of you with uncreased brow.
